The Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) is preparing for the opening of their first boutique hotel called THE BAYLEAF INTRAMUROS which will feature 56 well appointed hotel rooms, a destination restaurant in their top floor, a coffee shop on the ground floor, several meeting and conference rooms for business and leisure and other guest facilities. The hotel will become a venue for the on the job training of LPU's hotel, restaurant and culinary students. The long term plan of the LPU is to build a Bayleaf in the other campuses in Cavite, Laguna and Batangas. Right beside the hotel will be the LPU Culinary Institute which is set to open almost simultaneously with The Bayleaf Intramuros in April 2011.
 
VIC ALCUAZ has been engaged by LPU President Atty. Roberto Laurel to help the owners and their management team in ensuring a successful opening of their first hotel venture.

The Bayleaf Intramuros Appoints Ed Vitug General Manager

The Bayleaf Intramuros' Ed VitugAtty. Roberto Laurel, President of the Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) and the soon to open The Bayleaf Intramuros, a destination-botique hotel has appointed ED VITUG, itʼs pre-opening General Manager effective October 18, 2010. As GM, Ed will oversee all the functions of this new hotel comprising of Food & Beverage, Rooms, Marketing & Sales, Finance and Human Resources & Administration. The 56-room hotel is expected to open its doors by April 2011.

Ed is an experienced hotelier having started his career as an Assistant Restaurant Manager at the EDSA Shangri-la Manila in 1992. When he moved to his next appoinment in 2001, Ed was already EDSAʼs Director of Banquet Operations. He was assigned to the Shangri-la Hotel Jakarta in the same position that year. In 2003, he was part of the preopening task force for the Shangri-la Dubai lending support to the F&B team. That same year he returned to the Philippines as F&B Manager of the Makati Shangri-la Hotel until 2007. His biggest break came when the newly rebranded Sofitel Philippine Plaza offered him the top post as F&B Director. One of his greatest challenges at the Sofitel was preopening the totally renovated coffee shop now called Spiral, which remains one of the top hotel restaurants in the Philippines.

Before joining The Bayleaf, Ed was F&B Director of the Intercontinental Manila.
